We all love a good reunion. It is an occasion where old friends can relive the great moments and share memories of ten, twenty, or thirty years ago. The sweat and blood we shared when we studied together or played for the same team. In many, you will notice the effect of time, while some may not have changed at all. However, most of these old friends are now barely an acquaintance.

As time passed, you developed new skills, a new view of the world, and new ways to energize your day-to-day existence. You may even feel lighter because you left those dragging you down behind.

As a snake shedding its skin to grow, you will encounter situations where you free yourself from those around you to evolve. But, ultimately, you need to rid yourself of the frictions keeping you back.

Often, organizations believe that the status quo will keep the momentum going. But, unfortunately, sometimes, you need to leave a few trusted processes and colleagues behind to stay relevant.

Bottom line: When you embrace change, you will constantly be confronted with leaving something behind. Some say it is the price of growth. But, most importantly, never forget what got here.
